TV GUIDE Mixed news for Irish football fans after UEFA give update on Champions League on RTE, Premier Sports, and Virgin Media

 SKY SPORTS will once again show European football in future after securing rights to show Champions League, Europa League and Conference League games from 2027.

UEFA has announced details of its next TV rights package which runs from the start of the 2027-28 season until 2031.

And subscription channel Sky Sports has reclaimed rights it lost four years ago to the majority of games taking the Champions League package currently held by Virgin, and the Thursday package held by Premier Sports. 

Premier has retained its Tuesday Champions League package that gives them first dibs on match selection as well as all highlights, and co-broadcasting the final. 

RTE will show one of Wednesday’s Champions League free-to-air as well as highlights, though Sky will show all other games over both days. 

Sky will also show Europa League and Conference League games on Thursdays.
