Events guide: How to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Las Vegas this week

Mariachi performances, cultural events, dancing and exhibits are among the activities planned to celebrate Cinco de Mayo around the Las Vegas Valley. Free community festivals and experiences will be taking place at various locations. Here are some events planned through Tuesday:

The Cinco de Mayo bar crawl features entertainment, interactive challenges and five preselected cocktails across LiftOff, Oddwood, the Beast, Asylum Bar + Arcade and Looper, with ride access to LiftOff and Looper and $5 in arcade tokens at Asylum Bar + Arcade, 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, $75. area15.com/events

Art reception

A free reception for the exhibit “Bridges of Belonging: Cinco de Mayo, Bi-National Identity, and the Spirit of Chignahuapan” will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Clark County Government Center Rotunda Gallery, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. The “Puentes de Pertenencia”-themed event will feature live music, cultural performances, visual arts and food (while supplies last). Cinco de Mayo Bash

Lee Canyon will host a celebration featuring live music by Los Nuevos de Culiacan, food and drink specials, scenic chair rides on the Bristlecone Skyway and more, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, free admission. leecanyonlv.com

Cinco de Mayo celebration

Featuring free food and entertainment, mariachi bands, piñatas, dancing, boxing exhibitions, vendors, bounce houses and more, 4:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at Bob Price Park, 5852 E. Lake Mead Blvd., free. clarkcountynv.gov

The free cultural dance event will feature performances by the Top Model 40 Academy 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Winchester Dondero Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive, free. clarkcountynv.gov

Cinco de Mayo at the Plaza

Featuring DJ Exodus spinning radio hits with a mix of Latin music, downtown’s largest pinata and more, starting at 4 p.m. Tuesday in and around the Plaza’s Carousel Bar. plazahotelcasino.com

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

The Fremont Street Experience will feature entertainment noon-2 a.m. Tuesday on the Main Street Stage, First Street Stage and Third Street Stage. Performers include Latin Breeze, Volume 1, Lvado, Mariachi Daniel Franco, Banda Desierto, Variation 5, the Outlaw Mariachi, Los Juniors and more. vegasexperience.com

Gritos y Guitarras

The Cinco de Mayo celebration will feature a concert by the Mariachi Conservatory of Las Vegas, dancing, vendors and snacks, 6-8 p.m. Friday at the West Las Vegas Theatre, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd., free. lasvegasnevada.gov/discover; 702-229-4800.

Festive 5K

The Red Rock Running Company’s May the 4th Be With You for Cinco de Mayo run, jog or walk event will be at 7 a.m. Sunday at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road. Registration is $50; costumes are encouraged. rrrc.run

Los Platanos

The Latin funk collective Los Platanos performs 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Tuesday at the Sand Dollar Lounge, 3355 Spring Mountain Road. thesanddollarlv.com

Spring Mariachi Extravaganza

Middle and high school students from the Clark County School District perform mariachi music at 7 p.m. Friday at Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, free. thelibrarydistrict.org
