Many are expecting another brutal performance from Francis Ngannou in his return to mixed martial arts.
The former UFC heavyweight champion has not competed in MMA since October 2024, when he had a successful outing against Renan Ferreira in what marked his one and only PFL fight.
Ngannou has been focused on boxing in recent years, but his eyes are currently on the cage for Netflix’s entry into the sport. Before Ronda Rousey headlines against Gina Carano, Ngannou will fight Philipe Lins on May 16.
After the release of some training footage, fans are worried for the Brazilian heavyweight.

Francis Ngannou shows what is awaiting Philipe Lins in brutal training footage
Plenty in the MMA community are excited to see ‘The Predator’ back in action after inactivity in the sport where he made his name.
Since Ngannou left the UFC in early 2023, he has competed twice in the ring while making just one MMA appearance. He was outpointed by Tyson Fury and knocked out by Anthony Joshua.
But while he’s struggled to have his hand raised in boxing, Ngannou has not tasted defeat in the cage since 2018.
A brutal run of knockouts culminated in Ngannou knocking out Stipe Miocic to become the UFC’s heavyweight king in 2021.
And many are expecting Lins to fall victim to a similar fate when he stands across from the Cameroonian powerhouse at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome in less than two months.
That’s especially the case after the latest training footage out of Ngannou’s camp, which showed the 39-year-old launching vicious shots at a padded-up coach Dewey Cooper.

Fans fear for Philipe Lins’ safety against Francis Ngannou on Netflix
Fans quickly took notice of the clip posted on Instagram by Ngannou, and most were commenting on the well-known power in the heavyweight legend’s fists.
“RIP Lins.”
“Yeah, his opponent is in for a terrible night.”
“His next opponent about to see the pearly gates of heaven.”
“Painful just to watch.”
“For some reason, Philipe Lins signed up…”
“Man, that trainer going through it.”
“Ngannou coming for that KO.”
“Coach regretting his life choices.”
“Bro why do you got to do that to Lins?”
“I don’t know his next opponent… But he’s f—- up.”
Lins was released by the UFC in 2024 despite an active four-fight winning streak. He has not competed since and will be returning from a longer MMA layoff than Ngannou.
