Alexander Volkanovski’s next opponent is expected to be decided in Saturday’s main event.
The UFC has returned across the pond to stage another event in England’s capital this weekend, headlined by a key clash at 145 pounds.
Lerone Murphy will fight Movsar Evloev in the UFC London main event, with both undefeated featherweights looking to secure the next shot at Volkanovski’s crown.
More than just deciding the champion’s next opponent, however, Murphy believes the upcoming bout will also determine who takes the gold from him.

- Lerone Murphy says either he or UFC London opponent Movsar Evloev will be the next champion
- Volkanovski defeated Diego Lopes at UFC 325 in February to record the first successful defense of his second reign.
- Many believe that both Murphy and Evloev were more deserving of the shot than the Brazilian. One man will look to prove that by earning an opportunity in the English capital on March 21.
- During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, ‘The Miracle’ suggested that the UFC’s decision to grant Lopes a shot first has simply delayed Volkanovski’s inevitable removal from the throne.
- The British star believes that whether it’s him or Evloev, the Australian champ will fall next time out.
- “It’s all on Saturday night. It’s all on the performance,” Murphy said. “It’s all about how this fight goes, who looks good.
- “I think we’ll find out by the end of Saturday night who’s fighting Volkanovski next.
- “This fight should have been for the title really. It’s a massive fight,” he added.
- “I think the winner goes on to be champion, for sure.”

- Saturday’s home favorite has won nine straight fights in the featherweight division. Most recently, Murphy knocked out Aaron Pico with a spinning back elbow at UFC 319.
- Evloev, meanwhile, is coming off wins over Lopes, Arnold Allen, and Aljamain Sterling but has yet to record a single finish in the UFC Octagon.
- The Russian fighter will hope to end that unwanted streak at Murphy’s expense at The O2.
